One Last Hoorah for Summer 2013 - Lake Eufaula

How can it possibly be August already? I can officially say that in LESS than a month, I will be living in Baton Rouge! Words can't describe my excitement to finally move out to Louisiana. But with the excitement of moving in a few weeks, I am also sad to be leaving my closest friends, family, and of course my dog behind. I will miss everyone dearly, but am excited to reconnect over my favorite holiday- THANKSGIVING! Lord knows it will be here before we know it. I am always so surprised by how fast summer flies by, but it just seems that each year I get older, it goes even faster. It definitely scares me and most of my friends when we think about how quickly everything is passing; that we are already having to meet up one last time for the summer to say our goodbyes as most of us start our sophomore year of college... or in Mick's case, head off to Japan to serve our country as a part of the Marine Corp. How did we get here? It's moments like these that remind me to take in as much as I can as each day passes. We are all so blessed to be following our dreams, as cliche as that may sound.
Right before I had to say my goodbyes to everyone, I spent a week in Oklahoma with Connor, Ryan, and Connor's family. We spent almost every day on the boat and then came in at the end of the day for some seriously delicious meals, papa's infamous homemade ice cream, and late night bonfires. It was so nice to have a week of vacation especially after working most of the summer. On the drive back to Colorado we stopped at Connor's grandparents house (on his dad's side) to stay for one night before heading home. They were absolutely adorable and I seriously loved every minute I spent talking to them. I was fortunate enough to hear the story of how they met and to find out that at first Connor's grandpa didn't call his grandma back because "was dating a lot of other girls." He was such a crack up and was also completely serious when he said this. I love listening and talking to Connor's grandparents since I unfortunately have lost both sides of my grandparents. I mean grandparents are seriously awesome... and I tend to fall in love with most that I meet. So yes, I am that girl that "awwwwes" at every old person she sees. Another bonus about visiting Connor's grandparents was the adorable house that was perfectly grandparent-ish that we got to stay in, and that Connor's grandma was a Pi Phi... she even said "ring ching!" to me as we were leaving the house. The Oklahoma trip was a perfect ending to my summer. Now that I am back home, I have to face the reality of packing and saying goodbye to all my best friends... 2 things I could definitely go without doing for the rest of my life! But I am looking forward to what is ahead of, and know that when I come back home everything will be here waiting for me! Thank you Summer 2013 for some incredible memories, and new best friends that may be 60 or so years older than me... :)
